Hurry up and criminalise it already!

Saturday, the 6th of May, 2006 at 3:25pm
I just read and commented upon this guys blog, and it got me angry. It got me so angry, I'm feeling like I wanna write some shit about that which bugs the shit out of me too.

In fact where I'm going is in my comments, at the end I mentioned that due to the increased anti-smoking fervour currently circumnavigating the globe, things may well be looking up. If the governments of the world finally stand up and fight the scourge of the tobacco companies and criminalise tobacco, they would finally be dusting their hands of the whole affair. That means no taxes.

This is another related issue that I often come across in pro-marijuana groups, most are pushing for legalisation and not decriminalisation, often you hear such whiny bollocks like, "If the government legalise weed, they could tax it and make lots of money off it," listed as a positive. WTF? Since when has taxation ever been a positive? Fuck that, taxation is a negative.

To tie this all together, in this current anti-smoking climate, the legalisation of marijuana is impossible, and as it's mainly smoked, it is bad for you no matter what it is you're smoking. And they don't like smoking anymore. Bad person, put that down, you'll get cancer. You're poisoning my kids! No, putting your kids into the family car every morning and afternoon is doing more damage to their lungs than any second-hand smoke, and then let's consider car emissions which every person (inc. children) breath in everyday, almost endlessly in fact. By driving fossil-fuel vehicles we are actually reducing our own and our childrens lifetime. Fucking anti-smoking lobby twatheads.

So come on then! Criminalise tobacco! And while you're at it, you can criminalise alcohol and gambling too, tax-free is just so much better. :)

And remember in this country we subsidize tobacco farmers, while damming smokers to hell. Find the wheel and it goes round and round.
I don't drink, except for the odd beer, so feel free to tax the hell out of alcohol.
In point of fact everyone one wants other people's vices taxed, but leave mine alone.

Smoking weed cured my asthma. No kidding. Legalise weed, ban resin. Nasty stuff.
Weed is good for you.

It cured my boredom. Many times. I think that says a lot.

But lyric, I don't want anyones vice taxed. I don't want anything taxed.

ahh sweet anarchy, I forgot.

What are you planning on running your country on? Mind you, I am not big on paying taxes. I live in a tobacco growing state and you should see the taxes we pay on cigs. We are even taxed on our food. You know milk, meat etc

I think the only things we aren't taxed on are books. And it not like the money you spend on those books haven't been taxed already anyway.

I would run my country on the cheese market most likely.

Stilton please, I will do my bit for ole Mother England :P
I think you should run your country on fried Mars bars. Oh wait, your a Nation State, I remember the cheese now..dim, me not you
Virginia is the only state I know that taxes people on the food they eat. Not even LA or NYC have a sales tax on food.

Every time I play SimCity4000 I remember that 17.5% tax when my city is about dead.

Tax in Atl is between 6% & 7% depending on location.

Bleedin Brittish tax squeeeeeses so much cash out of you.

Tax is what makes our nation great! It keeps our troops well fed. It keeps the middle-management of the NHS creaming in the cash. It keeps the firemen risking lives and breaking windows for little more than a pittence. It pays for our brutal police force, to enable us to smash damn moaning hippies!

Also gives little UK the ability to play with nuclear weapons and act like it still has a massive army. UK thinks it still has global importance.

UK translates its paperwork into almost every Indian and islamic language. but not French? Hmm French people in England can read English! no shock there. UK houses families who don't want to get jobs - The list ins endless.

What transpires is the inability for the average joe to have a decent standard of living.

In my humble opinion Most European Countries are so far of the UK.

Cars cost over twice as much in UK to US, even those produced in UK are exported to european countries and sold for less abroad.

Having said this, I'd move back if I was Rich.

You get robbed just breathing in UK.

So yes UK Govt. Mis-handles ints tax revenue, much as any country does but more so. Unbelievebly so. So much So that people should riot every day until taxation is at a respectable level, Fuel for transportation is affordable, decent vehicles are affordable. Why should those who consider themselves comfortable drive a Ford Escort? That's poverty!

Hang on, but we do have global importance, we used to run the world, well apart from the bits run by France and Spain (oh, and Italy).

We were pretty good at it too really, we returned independence, look at India now, they're doing alright for themselves. Apart from the little Kashmir scuffles with Pakistan of course, but we'll let that slide, they both have nukes.

But I am getting slowly pissed off at all the hating on the US. When you think about it in terms of length of country existance, then the US is hardly out of the nappies (diapers for our American anti-heroes (Lyric, BFM)). Give them a chance, we know they have fucked up in the past, many times over, and caused most of the problems we face today, but you know, they'll get there, they are still human like everyone else.

Dunno why I went into that rant there, let's say it was a tangent.
