Re-enable guest postings? Comments desired.
After removing guest posting abilities, it seems to have been quieter around here, so I'm going to re-enable them.
There will be a security precaution in place to slow down the spammers, which will consist of a general knowledge/intelligence question and a choice of 5 answers.
The guest will have to answer the random question correctly for their comment to be posted. I may enable this on members too during the test period so I can get more feedback.
If you have any questions to put into the random question bin (14 exist already), then please post both the question and the five possible answers. Don't tell me the correct answer, I'm sure I can work it out (if not, I'll tell you it's too hard).
If you have any other comments or ideas on this proposal then please do provide them here.

Which fruit is often sold amongst the vegetables?
apple, banana, tomato, cabbage, turnip
Any, have you written the spam catching code yet? Because I can think of at least three good alternatives you could pinch. Thus saving you work.
One just catches shit automagicaly (Askimet like wot wordpress can use if you enable it.) is apparently good at it too.
One can do what you are talking about or just give a random simple maths question. Is part of an open source forum so can be pinched.
Other is recaptcha. http://recaptcha.net Am using it at the ancient boxer site very successfully after having been inundated with spam. You can use a nicer looking one than me with no silly look but I think it always fucks your validation.
Now I've wasted 5 mins writing all that you will tell me it's written won't you?
The method used will be as follows:
Visitor enters comments (submit button replaced with 'Preview' button), hits Preview button. Comments are shown in the preview page with an edit box and a randomly selected question with five potential answers. If the answer is incorrect the comment will not be posted, and the visitor will be advised of answering incorrectly. In this case the visitor will be able to try again. This should hopefully slow down any spammers.
