Here's a nice screenshot of an area near to where I am currently practice building on (sandbox area).
As you'll notice, I'm flying. You can do that naturally, it's like I'm in my lucid dreams.
Although the bright red is an issue I'm currently suffering since the recent update to Second Life 1.10. I'm usually bright green, but it depends on the angle of view (can also be black, red, blue, and grey).
Anyway, here's my first build!
I have tried attaching various free vehicle scripts but I haven't sussed out the seating position yet, never mind the motion and collision functions.

Very nice, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Will you be able to see past the large AK 1.0 signage to drive though?
The steering wheel is interchangeable. I could put two in if I wanted.
As for the AK signage,you can see below it when driving, and above it when as a passenger in the back.
Still, I can move any of it, I built it up from nowt.

beats me why you strange people spend large chunks of your life learning how to create non-real objects and working away to create vast non-real fortunes, when you could just apply that determination to learning something useful and applicable to actual real life, such as, building a real car, or fixing a car so you don't have to spend a fortune when joses chums trample all over it.
Thing is, you can sell the non-real objects for real money, so not entirely wasteful.
This is not a game as such as more fancy lego in a online enviroment,
the game gives you 200 linden dollars a week for free so you dont need to spend any real money. Still getting the hang of it myself but very interesting.

Your car is cool, if low-tech. Can you hijack the ship & strip that for parts?
Yeah I wish. You can probably buy the ship, but I'm sure it would be thousands of linden dollars. Some people are crazy enough to buy entire islands in this place. And that costs a lot of money.
