Wanna see me strip?

Thursday, the 13th of August, 2009 at 4:40am
Today I decided that it was time to start stripping the wallpaper from my second bedroom. The main reason for this is that I really want to move my computers from my tiny third room (which gets really warm during the evening for some reason - I suspect it's due to my computers blowing out hot air all day).

So, here are some pics for your delectation.

The walls I have started on as of today.

All the crap still stacked up in the other corner.

Jelly enjoys watching me strip.

I'm going back to it very shortly, as you can tell I haven't done much just yet, but I hope to have done at least 2 walls fully stripped before the day is out.

And in case you were wondering how my kitchen is coming along, it's pretty much done. Just a few more awkward tiles to grind down and fit, then the grouting will need doing. After that, it'll be the painting to do.

I love stripping wallpaper. I love hanging it too. Your new kitchen looks great. Lovely tile job and very very modern hardware. I am green with envy. Can you cook, dear?
What a handsome pup. Black and white and matches the kitchen.
I hope you covered the floor before you started stripping the wallpaper. That glue stuff is awful to get up.
Carry on. More pictures.

I like stripping wallpaper when it comes off in big chunks, otherwise it's a right-royal pain-in-the-proverbial. Didn't cover the floor as it's just painted floorboards in there and they need stripping anyway (paint-stripping, now that I hate).

My step-father did the tiling, bloody good job he did. Decades of practice I suppose. He wouldn't let me near the tiling. The kitchen was quite cheap until he came along and said, "You want these tiles." Admittedly, I did want them, but they were bloody expensive. Few hours later, badda-bing, he turns up on my doorstep with them. What a nice chap.

She's not 'black and white' (she is, really), she's Blue Roan. Pedigree dontchaknow. None of this mixed rubbish thank you. As Sprouty says, "At least she's not a King Charles."

Hi Jelly! I love your kitchen, the tiling is gorgeous. I have always hated stripping walpaper but at least you only have one layer to do. Our hallway at the old house had something l9ike 7 layers and every single one was someting Green or Tan-Bleh! Oh yeah-----yep I can post comments here! (Facebook is easier though). What are your plans for the walls once the paper is off ---Paint?
ahdkaw on Fri 14 Aug 2009 at 12:57pm #
Probably put some paper just to smooth out the walls a bit and then paint that. Makes it easier to remove/redo if necessary. My kitchen had some of the original woodchip, from the '50s, wallpaper in one corner, that were a right bastard to get off. But I managed it in the end.

Basefuck might be easier but then they do have a multi-million pound/dollar investment thing going on, and they are, as Bill Hicks would say, sucking Satans pecker.

Satan has a Pecker? Oh wow now I need to flo0ss my brain.

Floss good.

Oh aye, still got the grouting to do, hope to get that done by tomorrow evening, but it make take a bit longer, not sure. I applied a ton of impregnator to the tiles last night, so now they're all nicer sealed. House stank of glue all day though. Eurgh.
Windee on Fri 28 Aug 2009 at 4:01am #
?So how is your grouting going?
ahdkaw on Fri 28 Aug 2009 at 9:20am #
Nearly done, just a few spots here and there that I still need to go over again, then just the painting of walls and wood to do.

Not got around to it at the moment, as I'm too busy worrying about my mum who is having keyhole surgery today for gallstone removal.

I hope things go well for her.

Op went well, she's supposed to be taking it easy and staying at home, but she seems incapable of sitting around in front of the TV for a week or so to fully recover. So she's off to sit around at a trade show instead.
