Why I'm leaving Facebook.

I'm sick and tired of it to be honest. Whilst it has it's moments, it's just far too time consuming.

Plus there are the privacy concerns, and I wouldn't trust Zuckerburg as far as I could spuit a rat.

Looking for good privacy? This is the place to be! I don't spy my users, it's just not the done thing.

Also I don't advertise anything at all here. You could in fact visit this site with no adblockers/flashblockers/etc. and it would look no different.

Okay, so the underlying code here has a few issues, but damn it, it still just about works. And we even have RSS feeds you can sub to so you don't have to come back here every other day just to find that nothing has changed.

Erm, that's about it then.

EDIT: Just realised that only the first two paragraphs actually refer to the title of this thread, must rectify!

I am going to delete my account, I am. It just takes time to get through all the contact details, and I have more pressing concerns at the moment.

But soon, soon, I will be able to free myself from the shackles of Zuckerburg, and you can join me too.

if i didn't use fb to keep in touch with so many friends across the conintent, i would leave too. damn FB!

Helloooo. tis i Helen a.k.a spasm of the fruitcake variety. I have also tired of f.b tho prob still keep it open. Still i tried to register or re register and i can't rem my old password e.t.c Am i on file somewhere or did that insensible piece of info drop into oblivion many many moons ago? lol

Helloo Spasm! I'm not far off deleting now, but I'm just posting as much anti-Facebook stuff on my wall before I go. =)

I would quit FB but I'm only on it because sometimes someone links to something and you need a FB account to view it. Same reason I've had so many myspace accounts. I'm either too old or too anti-social for the internet social networking phenom.

This is the thing about FB, I want to delete but it is a lot harder than just simply clicking the Remove Account link, and then you get people wondering what the hell is going on if you say you're leaving and then stay.

I've removed my "Share on Facebook" bookmarklet, so I doubt I'll be posting stuff anymore. However, I have switched to twitter and blip.fm to satiate my social network needs, but nobody is on them.

Come on diaspora! We need you!
